To Our Friends and Neighbors in the Mid-South:
In recent months, the media has presented a lot of inaccurate information to the public, so much so that we wanted to give you the real story about Ford Motor Company and its dealers. Here at Country Ford, we've done our homework. We've taken the time to do the research, and we'd like to share the facts with you. Please take the time to read this information carefully, and then draw your own conclusions. We know you'll come away with a better understanding of the situation.
Although Ford is often mentioned alongside Chrysler and General Motors collectively referred to as the Detroit Big 3 Ford Motor Company is actually differentiating themselves from the other two by not accepting any Federal Money, otherwise known as "Bailout Money," from the government. Ford is an American owned company, rich in history, and has helped propel our nation into the 21st century as an industrial giant. Ford is one of the largest employers, largest tax generators, and most philanthropic minded companies in the United States of America. Ford's founding father was committed to the idea that everyone should be able to own an automobile at a time when car ownership was a luxury reserved for only the wealthy. Today Ford is committed to continuing that tradition. How? By being a driving force behind the act of building a better future for all of us. Currently, Ford's quality is equal to or better than that of Toyota or Honda, and that's an undisputed fact.
Country Ford has been serving the good folks of the Mid-South for many years now, and we pride ourselves on providing quality service to our many, many customers. We are proud to display prominently the Ford Blue Oval sign at our store and on our quality cars, trucks and SUVs. Together with our partner, Ford Motor Company, we are dedicated to providing reliable, economical, fuel-efficient, and safe transportation. And speaking of safety, did you know that Ford has more top safety picks and Five-Star Federal Safety Rated vehicles than any other manufacturer? It's true, and there's probably no better indicator of their commitment to you, the American consumer, than that.
And as it has always been, Ford Motor Company is very involved in many philanthropic causes in our community. While other automakers are limiting funding for philanthropy, Ford continues to invest. For example, Ford has raised and contributed $95 million for breast cancer education and research, and is a proud supporter of the Susan G. Komen Foundation and Warriors in Pink program. And since 1983, Ford Motor Company has also been involved with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the leader in research leading to a cure for type 1 diabetes in the world. Ford is also proud to be involved with Habitat For Humanity, and continually supports the University of Memphis Tigers, the Memphis Grizzlies, and the Mike Rose Soccer Field.
And despite the current economic downturn, Ford is looking boldly to the future, determined to look beyond fear and it seems to be working! Seeing no need for it, Ford has adamantly refused to take any government funding. President and CEO of Ford Motor Company, Alan Mulally, recently said, "Right now, I think with everything planned in the fiscal and monetary policy, I am very comfortable that we are going to start to turn things around through the second half of the year." And that seems to be exactly the case. As a matter of fact, Ford gained market share the last three months of 2008. And there seems to be a lot more good news in store. Ford has said that, despite the economic challenges out there, they're not pulling back or cutting corners on the most important thing of all: product. Rest assured, there are a lot of leading-edge cars, trucks, crossovers and SUVs coming soon.
Our Blue Oval has been a symbol of Americana for many years. Ford and its Dealer Body have provided quality transportation and employed thousands of your family and friends, all while being charitable in our communities. Country Ford and Ford Motor Company have been around for a while now, and we plan to be around for many years to come.
